How to Get Your Bidet Toilet Seat Serviced or Repaired

$
0
0

Electronic bidet seats are some of the most reliable home appliances money can buy.  Designed to be used everyday, multiple times a day, bidet toilet seats are durable and built to withstand heavy usage.  Every model sold at BidetKing.com has a less than 2% first year repair rate, but like all things in life—sometimes, things go wrong.  So what should you do if your bidet toilet seat malfunctions?

Troubleshooting

If you begin seeing issues with your bidet seat, try some basic troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the problem.  Check the bidet’s user manual for model specific instructions (if you lost your manual or don’t want to look for it, give us a call and we’ll walk you through it).  You can also try resetting the bidet seat by leaving it unplugged for 30 seconds before plugging it back in.  This simple reset often resolves small issues.

If the problem persists and you purchased the bidet from BidetKing.com, give us a call or send us an email and we’ll help you get your bidet up and running again.

Warranty Service

Every bidet product sold at BidetKing.com comes with a minimum 1 year manufacturer warranty that covers parts and labor in the event of repair.  Some models have longer warranties while others may offer limited coverage after the first year.  To get warranty service for your bidet seat, you will need to contact the manufacturer.  You can always call us first and we’ll get you connected with the right department, otherwise, call the number listed in your user manual.

Before you call, it would be helpful (but not necessary) to gather the following pieces of information:

- An order confirmation email or a packing slip that would tell you when and where you purchased

- A detailed description of the issue you are experiencing: When did it start happening? Does it always happen or only under certain conditions? Can you re-produce it?

If the service rep confirms that repair is needed, you generally have two options for repairing your bidet toilet seat.  First, you can have the manufacturer fix the bidet at their service center.  They would repair the bidet, test it, and then ship it back to you.  The downside is that you have to physically ship the bidet seat to their center and be left without its use for roughly 1-2 weeks depending on shipping distance.  Shipping costs are split (you ship it there, they’ll ship it back).  The upside is that a professional performs the repair and you can be sure it will work when you get it back.

The other warranty option (you may have to request it) is for folks at home who are handy and feel comfortable doing the repairs at home.  Manufacturers will often agree to ship you the OEM replacements parts with instructions to follow.  By performing the repairs yourself, you can avoid the downtime and save on shipping costs.  The drawback is that this option is not advisable for everyone and would only be possible if the service rep can determine the exact issue over the phone.

Out of Warranty Service

If your warranty has expired and you find your bidet toilet seat in need of repair, all is not lost.  Call your manufacturer and inquire about out of warranty service costs.  Small issues can sometimes be fixed for $100 or less.  You can also purchase spare parts from the manufacturer or distributors like BidetKing.com to repair the bidet seat yourself.

In any event, if you have any questions or concerns about your bidet product, give us a call and we’ll do our best to help.

Bio Bidet BB-2000Brondell Swash 1000

The Brondell Swash 1000 and Bio Bidet BB-2000 are two of our most popular bidet toilet seats here at BidetKing.com.  A common question we get from customers is, which one’s better?  The answer depends on what features and functions are most important to the user as each seat has its strengths and weaknesses.

Feature Comparison

Both the Brondell Swash 1000 and Bio Bidet BB-2000 are high-end, fully featured bidet toilet seats.  Both have unlimited warm water, front and rear wash, warm air dryers, deodorizers, slow close seat and lid, nozzle cleaning functions, nozzle oscillation and pulse, heated seats and wireless remote controls.

The Swash 1000 has an additional nozzle sterilization function, dual stainless steel nozzles, a wide spray option, and a sturdy sittable lid that will support up to 320 lbs. It comes with a 3 year limited warranty with an additional 2 years of 50% coverage from BidetKing.com.

The BB-2000 has higher wash pressure, a single stainless steel nozzle, an enema function, LCD screen remote control w/ clock, and an LED night light. It comes with a 3 year 100% warranty from Bio Bidet.

Brondell Swash 1000

Why should I choose the Brondell Swash 1000?

The Brondell Swash 1000 is a fantastic, fully featured seat made in S Korea and serviced by Brondell Inc.  At $599, the Swash 1000 is Brondell’s flagship bidet seat and is known for its reliability and build quality.  If a sturdy, sittable lid is a requirement than look no further – the Swash 1000 would be the best choice.   The wide spray option is also great for users that prefer a softer spray pattern like sufferers of hemorrhoids.  The wash pressure of the Swash 1000 is not as high as Bio Bidet models, but is perfectly adequate for most users under 250 lbs.  The Swash series is also on the quieter side during operation and the S-1000 has a slightly better warm air dryer, but the difference is almost negligible.

Bio Bidet BB-2000

Why should I choose the Bio Bidet BB-2000?

The Bio Bidet BB-2000 is the newest luxury model from the Bio Bidet company and is also made in S Korea.  At $699, it’s the first bidet seat that offers both unlimited warm water and high wash pressure with enema function.  In fact, the BB-2000 has the highest water pressure of any bidet seat we currently sell (along with the Bio Bidet BB-1000).  It uses a hybrid tank / tankless water heating system so the water is heated from start to finish.  The BB-2000 is the #1 choice for heavy or bariatric users (over 250lbs) due to its solid seat strength and strong wash pressure.  It also has a convenient LED night light on the side of the seat.  The Bliss series from Bio Bidet, which includes the BB-2000 and BB-1700, is truly top of the line with its only drawback being noisier operation.

Conclusion

Users really can’t go wrong with either the Brondell Swash 1000 or the Bio Bidet BB-2000.  The decision comes down to whether you value the higher wash pressure that comes with the Bio Bidet or if you prefer the all-around effectiveness of the Swash 1000. These are the two most popular models that we sell at BidetKing.com and we stand behind both bidet seats with passion.

Best Bidet Toilet Seats for Enema Function

$

Besides improving hygiene, some bidet toilet seats have the ability to provide relief to constipation sufferers with an enema function.   An enema is the practice of introducing liquids into the colon and rectum through the anus.  Doing so causes an expansion of the lower intestinal tract, resulting in a “I need to go now” sensation for the user.  The purpose of an enema is to cause a complete evacuation of the lower intestinal tract and provide relief to users who have trouble with bowel movements.

Bliss Nozzle Vortex

How does a bidet seat’s enema function work?

Unlike a traditional enema where a nozzle/syringe is inserted into the anus, a bidet’s enema function is much less intrusive.  It involves an extra strong, narrow stream of water that sprays from the bidet’s wash nozzle.  The nozzle itself never touches you, but the water stream is forceful enough to introduce a small amount of water into the colon / rectum.  The bidet toilet seat with enema function will also have nozzle positioning and water pressure controls that you can customize to suit your needs.  It may take a bit of practice to figure out the “right spot”, but it’s definitely effective.  Combine the enema function with a pulsing spray for added effectiveness.

Bliss Bidet Nozzle

Which bidet toilet seats have the best enema function?

To have an effective enema function, a bidet seat must be able to produce high wash pressure from its nozzle.  Bio Bidet seats have the highest pressure available so it’s no surprise that two Bio Bidet models made our list.  The Clean Sense dib series of bidet seats rounds out our list.

Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss Bidet

#1 Bio Bidet Bliss BB-2000 / BB-1700

The new Bliss series from Bio Bidet includes the remote control BB-2000 and side panel BB-1700 models.  Both models are the top of the line in terms of overall quality and their enema functions are the best available.  Using Bio Bidet’s signature Vortex water stream, the enema function is optimized to produce a strong, swirling stream of water.  The swirling action is engineered to more effectively penetrate the anus and provide faster relief.  The Bio Bidet BB-2000 and BB-1700 bidet seats are also equipped with advanced hybrid water heaters that provide instant and endless warm water.  The water will be warm right from the start and stay warm until you’re finished.  It’s no wonder why the Bliss series is currently the #1 selling bidet toilet seat line in 2014 at BidetKing.com.

Bio Bidet BB-1000 Supreme

#2 Bio Bidet BB-1000 Supreme

The Bio Bidet BB-1000 from BidetKing.com has been an industry leader for reliability and functionality for the past decade.  The BB-1000 introduced Bio Bidet’s signature Vortex water stream for its enema function and has been a customer favorite for years.  Like the Bliss series, the Bio Bidet BB-1000 has the strongest water pressure in its class and is able to deliver a strong, swirling water stream for an effective enema.  Its tank type water heater provides instant warm water, but will return to room temperature after about 30 seconds.

Clean Sense dib-1500R

#3 Clean Sense dib-1500R /dib-1500

The Clean Sense dib line of bidet seats is all about value.  At under $400, you won’t find a higher quality seat with so many features and functions.  The Clean Sense dib-1500R is consistently a top 3 seller every year at BidetKing.com.  The enema function is strong and effective, but lacks the swirling action that sets Bio Bidet apart.  However, the dib-1500R and dib-1500 both use tankless water heating systems that provide endless warm water.

USPA 6800

Honorable Mention: USPA 6800

The USPA 6800 bidet toilet seat is a great all around performer that is able to produce strong wash pressure.  Unlike the other bidet seats on this list, the USPA 6800 does not have a dedicated enema function, but instead has a unique “IIP” function.  The IIP stands for intensive impulse pulsation and is basically a very strong pulsing spray.  It is designed to be used as an enema and works well enough for inclusion on this list.

How Much Does it Cost to Install a Bidet Toilet Seat?

$

Bidet toilet seats are designed for easy DIY (do it yourself) installation.  However, not all users are physically able or handy enough to install one themselves.  Also, not all bathrooms have electrical outlets near the toilet (or at all), making it necessary to hire a professional for some aspect of the installation process.  So how much does it really cost to have a bidet toilet seat installed in your bathroom?

Easy Installation Bidet Toilet Seat

DIY Installation

For folks handy enough to tackle the installation of a bidet seat themselves, the cost of installation is practically free.  Bidet seats are mounted to the toilet bowl via a mounting plate held in place by two bolts.  Every bidet will come supplied with its own mounting kit so there are no costs associated with it.  Plumbing requirements are minimal as electronic bidets only require a cold water connection.  This is accomplished with a t-valve and an extra hose or two, all of which will be included with the bidet toilet seat.   No special tools are needed and it is recommended to hand tighten these plumbing connections to avoid over tightening.  Plumbers / thread seal tape is recommended for all metal to metal threaded connections and can be purchased for about $1 at most hardware stores.

Electrical Cord - Right

The electrical cord on most bidet toilet seats is about 4 ft long.  If you have an electrical outlet near your toilet already, fantastic! You’re all set.  If not, you have two options: either have a new outlet put in near the toilet, or simply use an extension cord if you can route it safely along your bathroom walls or through a cabinet.  Heavy duty extension cords (rated at 1600W or more) can be purchased at most hardware and electronic stores for about $15.  If you need an electrical outlet installed, keep reading below.

Professional Plumbing

Professional Installation

Mounting / Plumbing

Having a bidet toilet seat professionally installed in your bathroom can be costly so it’s important to know what you need done before you call.  The actual mounting and plumbing requirements for a bidet seat are relatively simple and any capable handyman or plumber will be able to finish in 30 minutes to an hour.  This means that users who already have an electrical outlet nearby can expect to be charged:

Plumber (on average) - $45 show up fee + $90 for 1 hour = $135

Handyman (on average) - $50/hr with a 2 hour minimum = $100

To save money, call around and ask about the minimum number of hours required and if they charge by the hour or half hour.  If other jobs are needed around the house, get a quote for all of the work combined to save on labor.  Alternatively, ask that one handy neighbor down the street if he / she will work for a batch of freshly baked cookies.

GFCI Outlet

Electrical Outlet

Electronic bidet toilet seats need to be plugged into an electrical outlet to operate (click here to read more about the electrical requirements).  If no outlet is nearby, one can either use an extension cord, or have a new outlet installed.  Unless the homeowner is particularly knowledgeable about household electrical systems, installing a new outlet is NOT a DIY project.  It is strongly recommended to hire a professionally licensed electrician to do the job.

The average cost of having a new GFCI outlet installed under normal conditions is about $100.  Tile walls, lack of existing / up-to-code wiring, or the need for a new circuit are some potential factors that could increase the cost.  Depending on the severity of these factors, the cost of installing a new GFCI outlet next to the toilet could reach several hundred dollars.

Conclusion

Cost of installing a bidet toilet seat:

Best case scenario (DIY with an existing electrical outlet): $0 - $15

Average professional installation: $100-$200

Worst case scenario (electrical outlet issues): $300+

The Brondell Swash 1000 and Bio Bidet BB-1000 are two fantastic bidet toilet seat options in the medium price range.  Both are known for their reliability and plethora of available functions.  Each seat has its own strengths and weaknesses so deciding which one to buy comes down to a user’s preference.  If you enjoy higher wash pressure with enema function, go for the Bio Bidet BB-1000.  If you prefer a softer spray with higher quality construction, go with the Brondell Swash 1000

Brondell Swash 1000Bio Bidet BB-1000

Feature Comparison

Both the Brondell Swash 1000 and Bio Bidet BB-1000 bidet toilet seats share the following features: front and rear wash, warm air dryer, heated seat, deodorizer, adjustable nozzle position with oscillation, self cleaning nozzles, slow close seat and lid and a 3 year manufacturer warranty.  BidetKing.com extends the warranty on both of these models with an additional 2 years of 50% coverage.

The Brondell Swash 1000 bidet seat has a tankless water heating system for unlimited warm water and energy efficiency.  It uses dual stainless steel nozzles and has the only sittable lid on the market.  It also has an additional sterilize function that treats the wash nozzles with a nano oxide coating for extra sterility.  The Swash 1000 has a wide spray adjustment that changes the spray pattern to a user’s liking.

The Bio Bidet BB-1000 uses a tank type water heater that provides about 30 seconds of warm water washing per user.  It offers the highest water pressure available and the best enema function besides the BB-2000.  Users also have the ability to pulse the water stream for a massage effect.

Brondell Swash 1000

Why should I choose the Brondell Swash 1000?

Overall, the Brondell Swash 1000 has a higher quality build than the BB-1000.  The seat and lid are both very sturdy and can support up to 320 lbs. on each—making it extra useful for users accustomed to sitting on the toilet seat lid.  The tankless water heater is also a great feature that allows for unlimited warm water washing.  The remote control of the Swash 1000 is slimmer and more modern than the BB-1000.  In fact, the entire body of the Swash 1000 is slimmer and has a lower profile, making it a more aesthetically pleasing choice.  The wide spray adjustment is great for sufferers of hemorrhoids / anal fissures.

Bio Bidet BB-1000

Why should I choose the Bio Bidet BB-1000

The Bio Bidet BB-1000 is a tried and true bidet toilet seat with solid construction and reliable operation.  While the lid is not as sturdy as the Swash 1000, the BB-1000 seat is just as strong.  This seat strength combined with its superior water pressure makes the Bio Bidet BB-1000 one of the best bidet toilet seats for heavy and bariatric users.  Bio Bidet seats are known for their superior wash pressure and the BB-1000 is certainly no slouch.  It features a wonderful enema function with Bio Bidet’s Vortex water stream.  The BB-1000’s front feminine wash is able to reach farther forward than the Swash 1000’s.

Brondell Swash 1000

Conclusion

At $599 and $499 respectively, the Brondell Swash 1000 and Bio Bidet BB-1000 are two of the best mid-tier bidet seats available.  With the $100 price difference, the Swash 1000 is built a little bit better and features newer technology like its tankless water heating system.  But, where the Swash 1000 struggles is where the BB-1000 shines with plenty of spray pressure and a farther reaching front feminine wash.  The choice of which model to buy really depends on the user’s preferences for the different factors explained above.  But, if we were forced to choose one, it’d be the Brondell Swash 1000

Which Bidet Toilet Seat has the Best Warm Air Dryer?

$
0
0

To have an effective warm air dryer, a bidet toilet seat must be able to provide a robust flow of air with adjustable temperature.  Average drying time for a typical bidet toilet seat drying function is roughly 1-3 minutes.  No bidet toilet seat on the market today will fully dry a user much faster than 1 minute, but we have identified some of the best models available.  At the top of the list, the TOTO s300e and TOTO s350e washlets have the most effective warm air dryers we’ve tested.

TOTO s350e Washlet

#1 TOTO s300e / s350e Washlets

It comes as no surprise that the two most luxurious bidet toilet seats money can buy have the most effective warm air drying functions.  They both appear on this list because the s300e and s350e have identical drying functions (the only difference between the two is an auto open/close seat and lid on the s350e).  While the majority of bidet seat dryers will fully dry a user post-wash in the 2-4 minute range, the TOTO washlets’ superior drying power gets the job done in about 1 – 1.5 minutes.

TOTO Remote

The warm air dryers on these TOTO bidet seats set themselves apart with superior air volume and pressure.  While we don’t have any statistics to back up our observations, the dryers feel noticeably stronger than other models.  Also, the amount of air that flows through the dryer vent feels considerably larger as well.  The s300e and s350e washlet dryers have 5 air temperature settings ranging from room temperature to very toasty.  Level 4 felt the most comfortable when used immediately post-wash and level 2 felt better when almost dry.

Brondell Swash 1000

#2 Brondell Swash 1000

The Brondell Swash 1000 bidet toilet seat is one of the best values on the market.  It has high quality construction and its operation is seamless and reliable.  The warm air dryer is also very effective and is only available on the Swash 1000 (not the Swash 900 or 300 models).  While not as robust as the TOTO washlets above, the drying function on the Brondell Swash 1000 is superior to almost every other bidet seat available.  The strength of the air stream is solid and the volume is enough to fully dry a user post-wash in about 1.5 – 2 minutes.

Brondell Swash 1000 Remote Lights

The Swash 1000 features 4 drying temperatures indicated by a colored light on the remote control.  It can blow at room temperature (light off), or be adjusted to 3 levels of warmth (blue, purple, red with red being the hottest).  We felt that the purple setting was most comfortable during testing.

Blooming NB-R1063

#3 Blooming NB-R1063

The Blooming NB-R1063 bidet toilet seat is another strong all-around performer.  It features a sleek, slim design, tankless water heating, and an LED night light. Its warm air dryer is similar in performance to the Brondell Swash 1000, although we give a slight nod to the Brondell for what feels like larger air volume.

Blooming NB-R1063 Remote

The NB-R1063 bidet seat’s dryer can be adjusted to 5 different temperature levels.  At level 4, it took about 1.5-2 minutes for us to feel fully dried after washing – very similar results as the Swash 1000.

Conclusion

As a whole, bidet toilet seat warm air dryers are not the most effective functions.  They generally feel like hair blow dryers on a low setting and it will take a few minutes before the user are fully dried.  That being said, some models definitely perform better than orders and can cut drying time down considerably.  If price is no issue, the TOTO s300e and TOTO s350e washlets have the best dryers on the market.  If price is a factor, the dryers on either the Brondell Swash 1000 or the Blooming NB-R1063 bidet seats are very effective.

Bidet Toilet Seat Comparison: Plastic vs Metal Nozzles

$
0
0

In today’s bidet toilet seat marketplace, one can find a variety of materials being used for the construction of the wash nozzles. These include plastic, aluminum coated plastic, stainless steel coated plastic, and full stainless steel.  So which one’s better?  In terms of usage, there really is no discernable difference in spray quality between the different materials.  In terms of hygiene and build quality, bidet toilet seats that utilize a fully stainless steel nozzle are most favorable.

Brondell Swash 1000 Nozzles

Functional Usage

When one sits on a bidet seat and begins to wash, it’s pretty much impossible to figure out what kind of nozzle is spraying you from underneath.  The actual “feeling” of the water spray is determined by factors like spray pressure, spray pattern, water temperature, and aeration of the water stream.  The material used in the construction of the nozzle really has no discernable effect on the actual water stream itself.

Bio Bidet BB-2000 Nozzles

Hygiene

The use of bidet toilet seats over toilet paper provides a huge boost in bathroom hygiene.  But, what about the hygiene of the actual bidet toilet seat itself?  Does the material of the wash nozzle affect it? All electronic bidet seats utilize self-cleaning nozzles which helps keep them sanitary between uses.  The powerful cleaning jet washes away the majority of visible particles and most bidet seat nozzles stay relatively clean over time.  So, whether the wash nozzle is plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel, bidet toilet seats are able to keep their nozzles pretty clean.

Bio Bidet BB-2000 Nozzle Wash

The added hygiene benefit of stainless steel nozzles over plastic and aluminum is due to its cleanability.  Having no pores or cracks to harbor grime and bacteria, stainless steel cleans faster and more completely than other materials like plastic, wood, aluminum, and earthenware.  In practical terms, this means that when a bidet seat is cleaning its own nozzles, the cleaning action is more effective when the nozzle is made of stainless steel.  When users manually clean the nozzles themselves, stainless steel nozzles will be easier to clean and less prone to scratches or corrosion.  This is why we see stainless steel as the most widely accepted surface material in commercial and food handling environments.

TOTO Nozzles

Build Quality

When bidet seat manufacturers decide to use stainless steel or aluminum over plastic, they are doing so primarily to demonstrate build quality.  Metal construction is generally regarded to be of higher quality than plastic.  For this reason, we see most of today’s luxury bidet seats like the Bio Bidet BB-2000, Infinity XLC-3000, and Brondell Swash 1000 using metal nozzles as opposed to plastic.  The big exception is with TOTO washlets

TOTO washlets are the “Rolls Royce” of bidet toilet seats and their products are accepted as the industry standard.  TOTO’s top of the line washlets carry $1000 price tags and yet none of them use metal nozzles.  TOTO still uses plastic wash nozzles, even on the class leading s350e model.  While we can only guess their reasoning, we believe it has to do with the old adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Conclusion

Plastic nozzles have been the industry standard for over a decade and it’s only within the last few years that metal nozzles have emerged in bidet toilet seat construction.  While we agree that stainless steel nozzles certainly sound like a big improvement, we also believe that the nozzle material makes little difference to the end user.  They are easier to clean and speak to a higher build quality, but metal nozzles don’t improve the user’s bidet experience over plastic nozzles.

How Much Does it Cost to Operate a Bidet Toilet Seat?

$
0

One of the biggest benefits of using a bidet toilet seat is reducing the amount of toilet paper one consumes.  Toilet paper is not only expensive to buy for a typical family, but its production is also very costly for the environment.  Washing with a bidet seat after using the bathroom can dramatically reduce, or even eliminate, the need for wiping with toilet paper.  So if using a bidet toilet seat can help save money on toilet paper, how much does the bidet seat itself cost to operate?

GFCI Outlet

Electricity Cost

Bidet seats in the US run on 110V electricity to power their onboard water heaters, seat warmers, and other functions.  The seat warmer and water heater can both be adjusted to various temperatures and the amount of electricity used can be greatly affected.  For example, a single user of a bidet seat that does not turn on the seat warmer and sets the water temperature to low will consume significantly less power than a family of four that uses the highest temperature settings.  Newer bidet models that utilize tankless water heating systems and energy saving functions will reduce their electrical draw even more. Due to all these variables, the actual cost of operating a bidet toilet seat can vary greatly from user to user.

Brondell Swash 1000

The chart below approximates the electrical costs of operating a Brondell Swash 1000 for a family of four with the seat warmer and water temperature set on high 24/7.  It assumes roughly 20 minutes of washing and drying each day with the power saving function turned OFF.

High usage scenario

Cost per day: $.18

Cost per month: $5.40

Cost per year: $65.70

Given the assumptions above, this chart represents the high-end of electrical costs.  With fewer users and the power saving function turned ON, the seat warmer would be turned low during periods of non-use and the annual cost of would closer to $20 – significantly lower.  With its power saving function and tankless water heating system, the Brondell Swash 1000 is one of the most energy efficient bidet toilet seats you can buy.

Low usage scenario

Cost per day: $.06

Cost per month: $1.80

Cost per year: $21.90

Brondell Swash 1000 Spray

Water Cost

Bidet toilet seats wash users with a small, aerated water stream.  The flow rate is approximately .5 liters/minute and with a 1 minute wash, this equates to .5 liters (.13 gallons) per “use.” Considering that older toilets use 3.5 gallons per flush, while newer toilets use 1.6 gallons, the amount of water used by the bidet toilet seat is minimal in comparison.  Assuming a high usage of 20 minutes of washing per day, this results in about 10 liters (2.64 gallons) of water used each day.  Given an average national cost of $.002 for every gallon of tap water, the annual water cost of a bidet toilet seat with high usage is a meager $1.93.

Conclusion

As explained above, the main factor driving the operating cost of a bidet toilet seat is the electrical draw.  User settings can have a big impact on the amount of electricity a bidet seat actually consumes.  If we take the average of the two scenarios above and add in the water cost, the approximate cost of operating a bidet toilet seat is about $.12 per day, or about $45.73 per year.

The Bio Bidet BB-2000 ($699) and TOTO s350e ($1020) are two of the best bidet toilet seats that money can buy.  The BB-2000 is Bio Bidet’s flagship bidet seat with high quality construction, the best water pressure on the market, and a comprehensive 3 year warranty.  The TOTO s350e washlet is the pinnacle of bidet toilet seat design and is considered to be the most advanced seat currently on the market today.  So which one is right for you?

Bio Bidet BB-2000

Both the Bio Bidet BB-2000 and the TOTO s350e share the following features: front and rear wash, endless warm water, warm air dryer, deodorizer, heated seat, nozzle cleaning function, fully adjustable nozzles and temperatures, LCD screen remote control, and slow close seat and lid.

The Bio Bidet BB-2000 has a dedicated enema function, stainless steel wash nozzle, an LED night light on the side of the seat, and a 3 year warranty.

The TOTO s350e has an auto open/close seat and lid, a eWater+ feature that keeps the toilet bowl clean, soft/wide spray options for front and rear cleansing, and a 1 year warranty.

Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss Bidet Seat

Why should I choose the Bio Bidet BB-2000?

The Bio Bidet BB-2000’s number one strength is its ability to generate superior wash pressure.  High wash pressure is important in bidet toilet seats for more efficient cleaning, heavy / bariatric users, and the enema function.  It is the first bidet seat that offers both high water pressure and unlimited warm water.  It achieves this through its advanced hybrid water heating system that provides warm water from start to finish.  So, for users that value high wash pressure and a dedicated enema function, the BB-2000 is the best seat on the market.

Besides its high wash pressure, the BB-2000 demonstrates its value with some luxury touches like a stainless steel nozzle and an LED night light.  The overall construction is very strong and the seat itself is one of the sturdiest available.   Bio Bidet backs up its flagship product with an industry best 3 year warranty that covers 100% of parts and labor.

Why should I choose the TOTO s350e?

Because you want the best and nothing but the best.  TOTO is the biggest player in the bidet toilet seat market and its brand also carries the most weight.  TOTO uses the latest in bidet technology and their products set the industry standard for quality and functionality.  The s350e washlet is certainly no exception.  This model (along with the s300e) is the lowest profile bidet seat available at just 4” in height at the rear and its overall construction quality is best in class.

The TOTO s350e’s auto open/close seat and lid is very convenient and gives this washlet the “wow” factor when users walk into the bathroom.  You can program it to automatically open just the lid or both seat and lid when someone gets near the toilet.  TOTO’s exclusive eWater+ feature uses electrolyzed water to spray your toilet bowl before and after each use—keeping it cleaner and free of debris.  Its warm air dryer is also the most effective one on the market today.  The only fault on that TOTO s350e is the short 1 year warranty for such a high price tag.

Conclusion

The Bio Bidet BB-2000 and TOTO s350e are two luxury class bidet seats that represent the best of what their respective manufacturers have to offer.  Deciding which one to buy really depends on what the user values most in a bidet toilet seat.  If superior wash pressure and cleaning ability is what the user wants, then the BB-2000 is the clear choice.  If uncompromising quality and the “wow” factor are important, then the TOTO s350e is the best bidet seat money can buy.

Bidet Toilet Seat FAQ: Wireless Remote Control vs Side Panel

$

Modern bidet toilet seats are controlled by either an attached side control panel, or a wireless remote control. Bidets with an attached side control panel like the Bio Bidet BB-1700 offer a simple one piece design so users don’t need to worry about a separate remote control. Bidets with a wireless remote like the Brondell Swash 1000 have a more streamlined look and are usually higher end models with more features. Both control types work well, but which one is better for you?

Bio Bidet BB-2000

Wireless Remote Control

Most bidet toilet seats sold today are operated by wireless remote controls that are usually wall mounted. At BidetKing.com, close to 90% of all bidet seat sales are devoted to remote controls. Why are they so popular?

Wireless remote controls are preferred over side panels for a number of reasons. First, remote controlled models tend to be higher end models that include more functions and features. Customers simply prefer going with higher quality bidet seats and most of them have remote controls. Next, without a side panel, bidet toilet seats have a much better aesthetic appearance. Side panels protrude from the right hand side (when seated) of the bidet roughly 3-4” and many customers simply don’t like the way it looks. With a wireless remote, the bidet seat looks less like a medical device and more like an upscale bathroom appliance.

All bidet toilet seats sold at BidetKing.com that are controlled by wireless remote also come with included wall mounts. Wall mounting your remote control is preferred for both better functionality and less risk of misplacement. While side panels on bidets remain in a fixed position, users can mount remote controls on either side of the toilet. This is great for left handed or disabled users. Also, by mounting the remote, the controls can be more easily accessed at eye-level. This is ideal for elderly or bariatric users. Once mounted, the remote control rarely needs to be removed; users can simply press the buttons and operate the bidet seat directly from the wall. This greatly minimizes the risk of losing or misplacing the bidet remote like you would a TV remote.

Bio Bidet BB-1700

Side Panel Control

If you do not have an adjacent wall next to the toilet to mount the wireless remote, a side panel bidet seat is a great option. Bidet toilet seats controlled by side panels offer simplicity and increased peace of mind. Instead of having to worry about yet another remote control, users can simply press the buttons on the side of the seat. There are no batteries and no mounting hardware – simply plug in the bidet seat and it’s ready to go. Households with small children or destructive pets can also rest easier with a side control panel as it cannot be detached and lost. Since all electronic bidet seats have sensors, you'll never have to worry about your children pressing buttons and spraying the whole bathroom while no one is occupying the seat.  Side control panels also have large, easy to read buttons with brightly lit LEDs to display the adjustable pressure and temperature settings.

Conclusion

Wireless remotes are the most popular choice for BidetKing.com's customers.  It allows the user to stay at a comfortable position without having to contour their body to press buttons on the side.  Wireless remotes provide large, easy-to-see buttons for the greatest cleansing experience.

If you have children, pets, or tend to misplace remotes, side panel controls offer a stress-free bathroom environment.  At the end of the day, isn't that what we all want?

Bidet Buyer’s Guide – Where to Start

$

0

Ok, so I want to buy a bidet. Where do I start?

Great! Glad to hear you enjoy feeling clean and are ready to upgrade your throne.  First, you need to determine what type of toilet you currently have (or whatever toilet you wish to equip). Toilets come in two basic form factors: the standard 2pc with separate tank and bowl, or the more modern 1pc toilets.

1pc 1 PIECE TOILET
A toilet sculpted into a seamless unit, and has no crevices between the tank and bowl.

2pc

2 PIECE TOILET
This type of toilet has a separate tank and bowl which are bolted together upon installation

Got it. So what does it mean if I have a 1pc or 2pc toilet?

Depending on the actual shape of your 1 piece toilet, our non-electric bidet attachments may or may not fit. If you're not sure, simply give us a call, or email us a picture of your toilet at support@bidetking.com - we're here to help.

If the bowl remains relatively flat and meets the toilet tank at close to a 90 degree angle, our bidet attachments will fit.

1 Piece toilets like the TOTO Ultramax or the Kohler Memoirs are great examples.

1 piece ok

If the tank is curved and meets the bowl on a slope (known as a "french curve") then it is unlikely our bidet attachments will fit.

The Kohler Rialto and San Raphael are popular examples.

NOTE: The GoBidet GB-2003C is the only non-electric bidet that will fit this style toilet.

1pc x

Well, how do I know if my toilet Round or Elongated? That’s important too right?

Absolutely.  After you figure out whether you have a 1pc or 2pc toilet, the next step is to determine if your toilet bowl shape is Round or Elongated.  Many of the more modern, stylish toilet bowls have the Elongated shape.Measure your toilet in inches from the center of the two mounting holes, to the end of your toilet bowl (line A) as shown below:Toilet Measurements

-If Line A is roughly 16.5, your bowl is ROUND.

-If Line A is roughly 18.5, your bowl ELONGATED.

Check the product specifications for exact measurements if your bowl falls somewhere in between.

That wasn’t so bad. Are there any other concerns I should have?

Color.  Several of our bidets like the Bio Bidet BB-1000 come in either White or Beige.  Pick the color that most closely matches your own.

Also, many of the electronic bidets are controlled by control panels attached to the right side of the seat.  Check the area surrounding your toilet to make sure you have a solid 4-5 inches of clearance on the right side to accommodate for the control panel.  If you find that clearance is going to be an issue–consider upgrading to a model with a wireless, mountable remote control like the Clean Sense dib-1500R or theBio Bidet BB-400.

Ok. I figured out the size, color, and shape of my toilet – how do I pick the bidet that’s right for me?

Look deep down into your soul and find your true bidet calling.  Just kidding.  There are two main types of bidets to choose from: Standard and Electronic.

Standard bidets like theBio Bidet BB-250and theBrondell FreshSpa Dual Temperature Bidetattach to your existing toilet/toilet seat and are an economical way to experience the joy of bidet washing without breaking the bank.  They generally only offer natural (cold) water hookups and basic  nozzle functionality, but are still great at the one thing they’re designed to do: clean your butt.

Electronic bidets like theClean Sense dib-1500and the INAX Clessence replace your existing toilet seat altogether and can offer an array of luxury features from heated seats to warm air dryers depending on how much you want to spend.  The CleanSense dib-1500, INAX Clessence, and Brondell Swash 300 are some of the best available values on the market because they include the full range of luxury features at great price points.

A Bidet Love Story

Growing up, I always had a very analytical mind.  I would often find myself lost in thought, pondering immense, philosophical quandaries like ‘why are sharks so cool?’ and ‘who invented pants?’.   One of these conundrums that I could never wrap my head around was ‘who thought of using toilet paper?‘.

I mean, sure, people have been using toilet paper for a long time now and I’ll admit – it gets the job done.  But, in our world of fancy gadgets and laptops, cars that park themselves, and phones that can do just about everything – we can’t come up with a more elegant solution to bathroom hygiene than wiping our dirty butts tissue paper??! I mean, come on let’s examine some of the cons here:

  1. You have to wipe so many times to fully clean yourself with just toilet paper
  2. You always seem to be running out when you need it most
  3. The softer the paper, the more virgin trees have to die
  4. When you’re having one of those days when you need to go alot:  tissue = sandpaper
  5. Toilet paper requires you to wipe with your hand, down there.  So when it rips…yeah.

And that’s just to name a few.  I’m sure everyone has had their own beefs with toilet paper at one time or another but for me…enough was enough.  But, what could I do?

My moment of enlightenment came during a family trip to our home country, Taiwan.  My grandmother had recently undergone surgery and was mostly limited to resting in bed.  Just going to the bathroom became a chore.   My uncle decided to take action and installed an electronic bidet seat on her toilet.  Whoa.

Now, I’m what you would call a techie.  I built computers as a kid, loved having the newest gadgets and worked as an IT consultant for two years.  So imagine the look on my face when I saw the electronic bidet for the first time.

“What?! You mean you don’t have to wipe? IT WASHES YOU???! WHY DIDN”T ANYONE TELL ME THESE THINGS EXISTED??!! garghggahhh…”

faint

When I woke up later, I asked my grandma how she liked using the bidet.  She loved it of course and said the enema function was especially useful for when she was constipated.  A little TMI, but I was hooked nonetheless.  I couldn’t wait to poop.  The next morning I was about as excited as a kid could be to poop in his grandma’s toilet.  I’ll spare you all the details, but let’s just sayI had one of those moments when you realize this is how life should be. I had found the solution to my life long conundrum of how to get around using toilet paper and felt remarkably free because of it. Thanks grandma!

I returned home and to no surprise my drab, bidet-less toilet just became harder and harder to bear.  After an exhausting search, I was finally able to track down a beautiful new electronic bidet seat to call my own – and we haven’t parted since <3.  Because once you go bidet, you can never go back.

Hope you all enjoy the blog as much as I do!

Bidet Benefit #1 – Cleaner than Toilet Paper

It’s pretty amazing to us how America has gone this long without a more widespread acceptance of thebidet.  We live in a culture that’s pretty obsessed with keeping things clean and sanitary.  Anti-bacterial soaps, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizers, magic sponges and the list goes on.  We’re constantly bombarded with ads telling us how dirty our hands and counter tops are under a magnified lens.  And yet, for perhaps the ‘dirtiest’ part of our daily routines, we just wipe our butts with toilet paper? That should be good, right?

Look, toilet paper‘s fine.  It does its job and for the most part, it’s clean enough.  But can’t we do better? I mean, when our hands get dirty, we wash them with water and soap.  When our dishes get dirty, we wash them in the sink, with water.  So when our butts get dirty, shouldn’t we wash them with water too?  The more you think about it, the more it makes sense.  We wash everything with water – why not our rears? Use a bidet, or better yet, use one of those fancy electronic bidet seats.  It’ll change the way you look at toilet paper forever.

Bidet Review: Bio Bidet BB-800 Prestige

So a couple months back, I had the pleasure of helping my mother install her brand new Bio Bidet BB-800 Elongated Bidet Seat.  I took alot of pictures during the whole process with the hopes that I would put together a step-by-step bidet seat installation guide.  Well, the bidet installation guide is still on its way, but here’s a little teaser for everyone. Here’s my review for the Bio Bidet BB-800 Prestige.

bb800 boxThe toilet we chose to “bidet equip” in my parents’ house was beige in color and elongated in shape.  They had a two piece toilet so fit wasn’t going to be an issue.  We ordered the bidet from our sponsorBidetKing.com(shameless plug) and it arrived in a nice big cardboard box (duh) after a week.

The box looked pretty legit, but you’d expect that from a well equipped $400 electronic bidet seat. Bio Bidet is a major player in the US electronic bidet seat market and has a headquarters here in the states.  Their bidets are definitely Korean made though, and that’s a good thing.  Korean bidet brands are known to be made with great quality – comparable to their Japanese counterparts, but much more affordable.  Compare this seat to the TOTO S400 Washlet which goes for damn near $700.

Anyways, after we finished unpacking everything (there’s not that much) we laid all the parts out.  These lower res pictures doesn’t do the bidet seat justice but you can feel the quality of it.  The finish was impeccably smooth and the bidet seat in general just had a nice and heavy, quality feel to it.

bb8003

You can see the BB-800 here with its included parts:

  • (2) Water connection hoses
  • (1) T-valve connector
  • (2) Plastic mounting bolts/washers/nuts
  • (1) Plastic mounting bracket (with metal 2 frames)
  • (1) Spanner tool (like a janky wrench)
  • (1) 3/8′ to 1/2″ metal adapter (didn’t need it)
  • (1) Quick user guide
  • (1) User manual

Installation was a breeze and took about 30 mins with a break in the middle.  I’ll be posting the fullstep-by-step electronic bidet seat installation guide here soon enough as proof, but just take my word for it.  To install, you need a wrench (preferably one that locks) and plumbers tape.  To give you an idea of how easy these things are to install, I didn’t even use a wrench on this bad boy.  The spanner tool that they included with the kit was more than enough.

Using the Bio Bidet BB-800 for the first time was great.  I’ve had the CleanSense dib-1500Rinstalled on my own toilet for quite some time now, and the BB-800 is definitely on par with that bidet seat in terms of both overall craftsmanship, and cleaning action.  The nozzle on the BB-800 is very similar to the dib-1500 in that it is a single nozzle that is used for the various cleaning actions (with different holes for the feminine clean/enema function).  Nature wasn’t calling at the time of installation, but I did sit down and let Bio Bidet’s pride and joy massage me for a minute.  Felt great ;) .

bb800cp

The control panel on the BB-800 is sleek and stylish.  It’s extremely intuitive and my mom had no problems figuring out which buttons did what (keep reading).  The buttons feel nice to the touch and the lights are easy to read.  The 1-page quick guide is very clear and comes with a suction cup to mount near your bidet in case you forget what the Turbo button does.  Oh, that turbo button. One would think it’d be used for a quick clean…maybe a 15 sec spray with auto-shut off?  Nope, it’s the enema function.  Watch out for that.

The BB-800, like with most electronic bidet seats around this price range, comes with economy mode and self-cleaning nozzles.  A lot of people ask me, “Doesn’t the spray head get dirty when it washes you?”.  The answer: self-cleaning nozzles.  When you first sit down on the seat, you will hear some water trickling in the toilet.  It might catch you off guard at first, but it won’t splash you.  It’s the bidet seat sensing that someone is on the seat, and it flushes the nozzle with a jet of water in its casing.  It does the same thing after it’s done spraying you.  Nice.

bb800lightsThe economy mode is pretty cool too.  The BB-800 comes with 2 economy modes (I have no clue with the second one does yet).  Economy mode is basically the on-board computer chip learning about your poop habits.  Wait, what? Yeah, these things are smart enough to learn your poo schedule so that it can save energy during ‘non-peak’ hours.  Fancy stuff.

Overall, I’d rate the Bio Bidet BB-800 a 9/10.  It would’ve been a 9.1 if not for the damned Turbo button (j/k).  It’s pretty much the top of the line when it comes to electronic bidet seats with a side control panel.  The major knock against it is that it doesn’t include a deodorizer and the ability for user presets at its price point.  Still, a damn fine bidet seat for the money.

Bidet Review: Clean Sense dib-1500R

$

0

The next installment in our bidet reviewseries is the CleanSense dib-1500R.  I’ve had the dib-1500R installed in my bathroom for close to a year now and frankly- I can’t imagine life without it.

The dib-1500R, like with most qualityelectronic bidet seats at the price range, is manufactured in Korea.  It is produced by the Daewon Bidet company in Incheon who has a reputation for building quality bidet seats since 1980.

The main thing to take away from the CleanSense bidet series is its unbelievable value for its price point.  The dib-1500R is currently CleanSense’s flagship bidet seat and is selling for $379.95 at, BidetKing.com.  If we compare its list of features with other top of the line, remote controlled bidet seats like the Bio-Bidet 1000, INAX Luscence, and Infinity XLC-3000, we see that we are getting a great value.  Its list of features include Adjustable Nozzle Position, Seat Sensor, Seat Warmer, User Presets, Self-Diagnosis, Smart Energy Save, Detachable Main Body for Cleaning, Low Noise Motor Pump, Warm Air Dry, Deodorization, Bubble Wash, Child Settings, Pulse, and Massage Modes.

Installation of the dib-1500R was a snap.  All electronic bidet seats on the market today are pretty much installed the same way and the dib was no exception.  The mounting bracket is bolted on to the toilet mounting holes and the dib-1500R slides on for easy detach-ability.   The cleaning action of the dib-1500R’s aerated stream is nice as well.  The nozzle position and water temperature are easily adjustable and even the massage mode has different settings. The bidet function (feminine cleaning) is also very effective as the nozzle has 4 spray holes for a nice, even wash.

Another feature that sets the dib-1500R apart is the ability to program up to 4 User Presets.  What does this mean? dib1500r remoteWell it’s comparable to luxury car seats that allow drivers to program their seat positions whenever they enter the car.  By setting your user preset, the dib-1500R will automatically adjust the nozzle position, water temperature, and water pressure to your liking once you select your saved preset.  It saves you time and prevents any unpleasant surprises in the case that your spouse enjoys a high pressure, cold wash.

Having used the CleanSense dib-1500R bidet seat for a while now, I’ve also noticed a couple minor drawbacks.  I’m not sure if it’s because my toilet is especially small for a round shaped toilet, but the front lip of the dib-1500R bidet seat hangs slightly over the front edge of my toilet bowl.   It doesn’t cause any issues in terms of function, but it slightly detracts from the bidet’s overall aesthetic appearance.  In contrast, the Bio Bidet BB-800 I reviewed earlier sat perfectly flush on the toilet bowl.  The dib-1500R toilet seat is also a bit ‘light’ in comparison with some other electronic bidet seats.  Although weight doesn’t necessarily denote quality, it’d be nice if the toilet seat itself had a heavier feel to it.  But like I said, the quality is definitely there and I haven’t had any issues with breakage/cracking/malfunctions.

The dib-1500 series also features a neat little blue LED light at the top of the seat.  It’s great as a nightlight when you need to use the bathroom but don’t want to turn on the bathroom lights. If you prefer bidet seats with side control panel over a wireless remote, go for the CleanSense dib-1500 and save $30.  The side panel is sleek and easy to use, but the dib-1500 does not have the ability to set user presets.

Overall, I’d rate the dib-1500R a 9/10 for its unbelievable value as a top of the line bidet seat.  If not for the two drawbacks I listed above, it would’ve gotten a 10.

What's the Best Value Bidet Toilet Seat for Under $400?

$

0

With so many bidet toilet seats available, it’s hard to pick the right model for one’s needs.  Some bidet seats cost over $1000 while others can be had for under $300.  At BidetKing.com, we categorize all bidet seats under $400 into our Value category.  So which value bidet toilet seat is the best?  Taking into consideration price, features, quality, and reliability, our editors have chosen the Clean Sense dib-1500R as our #1 pick.  Find our top 3 picks explained below.

Clean Sense dib-1500R

#1 Clean Sense dib-1500R - $379

The Clean Sense dib-1500R bidet toilet seat is one of our favorite models regardless of price.  Manufactured in S Korea, the Clean Sense line was one of the first to fully adopt tankless water heating systems for energy efficiency and endless warm water.  Nowadays, virtually all of the leading bidet brands use this technology.

The dib-1500R is a fully loaded bidet seat that has front and rear aerated wash, a dedicated enema function, warm air dryer, an aluminum wash nozzle, deodorizer, heated seat, nozzle oscillation and pulse, LED night light, and even the ability to save 4 user presets.  The wireless remote control has a clear LCD screen with clock and setting readouts.  The seat is sturdy enough to support up to 320lbs and has one of the largest seat openings available.  Another great aspect of the Clean Sense is its strong water pressure despite having a tankless water heater.

The main drawback of the dib-1500R bidet seat is its short 1 year standard warranty.

Bio Bidet BB-400

#2 Bio Bidet BB-400 - $399

The Bio Bidet BB-400 bidet toilet seat is another fully featured model available at a value price of just $399.  Brought in from S Korea under the Bio Bidet brand, the BB-400 boasts strong water pressure with separate his and her rear wash modes.  “Her” rear wash is a softer spray, while “his” rear wash is a stronger, narrow stream that can also be used as an enema function.

The BB-400 bidet seat also has a warm air dryer, nozzle oscillation and pulse, heated seat, and a wireless remote control with extra large buttons.  The remote control is a favorite of some of BidetKing.com’s elderly customers as the large soft buttons are easy to read and press.

The main drawbacks of the Bio Bidet BB-400 are that it only provides 30 seconds of warm water and the spray is not as well aerated as other models.

Nova 1000

#3 Nova 1000 - $299

At just $299, the Nova 1000 is one of the least expensive bidet seats on the market today.  At this value price, Nova even managed to include a hybrid water heating system that provides instant and endless warm water.  The Nova also pushes out strong water pressure with a dedicated turbo/enema function available.  It features front and rear wash, enema function, nozzle oscillation and pulse, heated, and an aluminum wash nozzle.

The Nova 1000 is perfect for first time bidet seat users or users looking for a simple, inexpensive hygiene upgrade.  It’s not as fully loaded with features as other models so it’s ideal for guest bathrooms or kids rooms where the extra bells and whistles aren’t needed.

What Size Bidet Toilet Seat Will Fit a Kohler Santa Rosa Toilet?

Toilet Measurements

Bidet toilet seats generally come in two available sizes, round or elongated.  Choosing the right size depends on the shape of your toilet bowl.  Toilet bowls are also sold in two main sizes, either round front or elongated front.  Aside from comfort, it’s a space issue that affects smaller bathroom setups as elongated toilets extend about 29.5” while round toilets extend about 27.5”.

Kohler Santa Rosa

Recently, toilet manufacturers like Kohler and American Standard have come out with a new style of toilet known as compact elongated.  Compact elongated toilets provide the comfort of an elongated bowl, but fit into the space of a round front toilet.  The Kohler Santa Rosa is the most popular of these new compact elongated style toilets.  While they are great for users with compact bathrooms, toilets like the Kohler Santa Rosa make choosing the right sized bidet toilet seat trickier.

Brondell Swash 1000

Buying an Elongated Bidet Toilet Seat

Elongated bidet toilet seats like the Brondell Swash 1000 are about 20.8” in total length from the rear of the unit to the front.  This works perfectly for regular elongated toilet bowls because they generally have about 21-22” of bowl space to utilize.  Since compact elongated toilets like the Kohler Santa Rosa are meant to fit into the space of a round, there’s only about 19.75” of bowl space available.

Mounting an elongated bidet toilet seat onto a Kohler Santa Rosa will result in about 1” of overhang in the front of the bowl.  This means that the toilet seat will extend past the front lip of the toilet bowl by about 1”.  While the bidet seat will still function properly, the appearance will not be ideal.  At BidetKing.com, we want our customers to know this before they purchase to avoid any surprises.  Given this information, most of our customers still choose to go with the elongated size for comfort despite the appearance.

Kohler Santa Rosa

Buying a Round Bidet Toilet Seat

Round bidet toilet seats are about 19.4” in total length.  They work great for round front toilets that generally have about 19-20” of bowl surface to utilize.  It makes sense that compact elongated toilet bowls fit within this range with 19.75” of workable space.

Mounting a round bidet toilet seat on a Kohler Santa Rosa will be a much better fit than the elongated size.  The front of the bidet seat will line up very nicely with the front of the toilet bowl.  However, as is the case with most round bidet seats, the seating area will be reduced and it defeats the purpose of buying an elongated shaped bowl in the first place.  The result is a bidet toilet seat with a nicer appearance when mounted, but reduced comfort.

Conclusion

Compact elongated toilets like the Kohler Santa Rosa solve space problems when dealing with small bathroom setups.  However, the compact nature of its design complicates matters when trying to pick the right sized bidet seat.  Elongated bidet seats will feel more comfortable like the toilet was meant to be, but will hang over the front of the toilet bowl by about an 1”.  Round bidet seats will fit better, but the seating area is smaller and less comfortable.  Both bidet seat sizes will function equally well so the final decision is on users to decide which factor they value more: comfort or appearance.

Top 4 Mistakes When Buying a Bidet Toilet Seat

$
0
0

Making the choice to buy a bidet toilet seat is often a big decision for new users.  There are so many different models on the market and the multitude of bells and whistles can be confusing.  Some users can spend hours and hours doing research on the internet only to find that the bidet they purchased will not work in their bathroom.  Here are some of the most common mistakes that customers make when buying a bidet toilet seat.

#1 Buying the wrong size

Bidet toilet seats in the US and Canada are sold in two different sizes: Round or Elongated.  This is because most residential toilets are generally sold in these two sizes.  It is imperative for new users to figure out what kind of toilet they have before buying a bidet seat.   Consult our bidet fitment guide or check manufacturer websites to determine whether your toilet is compatible with bidet toilet seats and which size you should purchase (about 75% of all the bidet seats we sell at BidetKing.com are in the elongated size).

Buying the wrong sized bidet or one that is not compatible with your particular toilet will result in headaches and dissatisfaction—two things everyone would like to avoid.  Measure your toilet carefully before buying and you’ll be enjoying a perfectly fitted bidet toilet seat in no time.

#2 Trying to go too cheap

Bidet toilet seats should really be considered major appliances in line with washing machines and dishwashers.  If you think about it, bidet seats are used every day, multiple times a day, usually by multiple people within a household.  Other than your refrigerator, what other appliances do you use that often?   Experienced bidet seat users know the multitude of benefits and value that come with owning a bidet seat, but new users sometimes find the price tag hard to swallow.  They then go to eBay in search of the cheapest, made in China bidet seat they can find and are almost always disappointed with the results.

Decent quality bidet seats can start as low as $250, but our most popular models go for $400-$700.  Do yourself a favor and find a reputable bidet seat company with good reviews, rather than the cheapest seat you can find online.  You’ll wonder why you waited so long to buy one.

#3 Bathroom cannot accommodate an electrical outlet

Electronic bidet toilet seats require an electrical outlet for operation.  Most bathrooms have electrical outlets already, but usually not next to the toilet.  Users can either have a new outlet installed near the toilet, or simply run an extension cord to the nearest outlet if it can be done safely.  Some bathrooms that have extensive tile work or have a water closet that separates the toilet can find it difficult to accommodate a bidet seat’s electrical requirement.  Be sure to examine your bathroom’s electrical situation before purchasing a bidet toilet seat to avoid the hassle of having to return it.

#4 Unrealistic expectations

Bidet toilet seats are amazing.  They improve hygiene, help the disabled and elderly regain bathroom independence, reduce toilet paper use and much more.  As amazing as bidets are, some new users go into the purchase with unrealistic expectations thinking their new bidet seat will do their taxes and walk their dog (yes please!).  A bidet seat will fully clean you after you use the bathroom, but if you have a condition that requires your entire bottom to be cleaned after each bathroom visit, a bidet seat is not for you (try a Hand Held Bidet Sprayer instead).  A bidet seat will transform your toilet into a bidet, but it will not work on transfer benches or commodes that need to be moved often.  If you have special needs, talk to one of our representatives and we’ll gladly help determine if a bidet seat can benefit your life.

Bidet toilet seats are constructed with hard plastics like ABS or polypropylene.  These plastics are durable and easy to mold making them ideal for many everyday items like toys, chairs, car parts, and much more.  Bidet seats usually have a glossy finish and look great on porcelain toilets.  To maintain this look, it is important to avoid cleaning your bidet toilet seat with harsh abrasives or chemicals like alcohol or bleach.  These cleaning agents can deteriorate the plastic surface and cause discoloration or cracking.  To make matters worse, damages caused by these harsh chemical cleaners are not covered under warranty.

Mild Soap & Water

To safely clean your bidet toilet seat, it’s always a good idea to first unplug the unit for safety.  Make a solution with mild antibacterial soap mixed with warm water (roughly 1 part soap to 4 parts water).  You can also add one part white vinegar for extra disinfecting power.  Take a towel or wash cloth to wipe the entire surface of the bidet clean using the solution you just made.  You may want to use a separate paper towel or cloth to wipe down the underside of the seat itself if it is very soiled.  Once clean, use a fresh towel or cloth to wipe the entire surface with warm water to remove any traces of the cleaning solution.  Plug the bidet toilet seat back into the electrical outlet and voila!

If you are particularly concerned about germs around your toilet (YOU SHOULDN’T BE - Places Dirtier Than Your Tolet) and you insist on using an alcohol based cleaner, be sure to thoroughly wipe down the entire unit with warm water to remove as much of the chemical as possible.  We really don’t recommend doing this to begin with, but if you have to, wiping it down with warm water afterwards will help reduce the harmful effects of abrasive chemicals on your shiny bidet toilet seat.  Keep in mind, damages caused by using harsh abrasive chemicals to clean your bidet toilet seat are not covered by your warranty (the damage from harsh chemicals on hard plastics is distinct and easily determined).  So save yourself the time and hassle of having to replace parts of your bidet seat by cleaning it properly from the start!

The Kohler San Souci is a popular new toilet released by Kohler in 2015. It has an appealing one piece design, and if you’re reading this you probably own one, or are considering buying one. So now for the big question, “What bidet seats will fit the Kohler San Souci?”

Kohler San Souci Design

The Kohler San Souci is a fashionable toilet with its elegant curved tank and seamless one piece design.  However, its beauty is also its weakness. Due to its “French curve” tank design, the San Souci is not compatible with most bidet seats on the market. There is very limited space between the tank and the toilet seat bolt holes, and the width between the curves of the tank is narrow.  Luckily, the Kohler San Souci’s does have an elongated bowl which will at least allow for some bidet seats to fit.

Which Bidet Toilet Seats Will Fit the Kohler San Souci?

As of now, we can confirm the Kohler C3 230 bidet seat, the TOTO S300e washlet, and the TOTO 350e washlet will all fit the Kohler San Souci.
